The Birmingham Youth Sports Academy once again being invited to come and do a project with the champions Manchester united FC. On the 30th June 2013 the BYSA took 100 people to MUFC – old trafford experience package which was put together by MUFC and the bysa committee members. The event was a day to remember from start to finish and very much enjoyed by all.
BYSA was established in 2002 as a voluntary/charity organisation it started with 10 local kids to come and play football it gradually the numbers went up and up and then a group of volunteers decided to team up and make the difference in the area of small heath where nothing was happening for the children of the community and since then the academy has made a big impact within the community and has promoted football coaching and educational classes the academy has a webpage to give you a bit more of an in sight of what we have done and has our mission statement on there, to view please go to: www.bysa.co.uk
The brains behind this is Anwar Khattak who is the founder and put this all together and made a team of volunteers help within and make it a success we have many members parents that come and watch our sessions to see what there child talks about all week we have had a positive response from all who have attended and welcome anyone to come and join or get involved our session is on a saturday morning from 10:30am – 12:30pm at small heath leisure centre, indoor/outdoor football coaching with CRB checked and FA qualified staff.
We have many stories we have had alot of children who where running with gangs and getting into trouble our dedicated volunteers who have been on top of each member within the BYSA mentor them and discipline them and provide 24 hours advice and help to them, we also promote education we have many children who have moved on into sports careers and become teachers/coaches, also some who have gone into business and others who have gone to university and get there degrees and become solicitors, engineers etc. We at the BYSA would say we are like a father figure to these kids we see them grow up in front of us so its a success to us to see them become something in life we promote and help any child no one in our academy is weak we have a zero tolerance against bullying and bad behavior we have our volunteers in place to educational officer and the welfare officer. We have taken many kids on projects that can be viewed on the web page to show them a different side of life. We have had children from all types of backgrounds and over weight kids but we take anyone on, there is no requirement to enter we help many children to get what they want we help them with fitness and diet plans and educational programmes we offer we still have many children that still come back to the session and remember there experience when they were young which makes us feel like a father figure as we have successfully being running for 11 years now and going from strength to strength we had a charity dinner which was a big hit and presentations for the BYSA youth members were awarded medals for the time and effort within the academy and children who have been outstanding were also awarded at the dinner all money raised donated to the charity to help with future plans for the academy.
The academy has done many projects with clubs which can be viewed on our webpage which are not ordinary projects the clubs offer the experience of a life time for the children to explore and aim high in life. We welcome children and parents to get involved and be apart of the BYSA.
