ABOUT US

about us

BYSA foundation

BYSA Foundation was established in 2002 as a voluntary/Charity organisation and has received funding from a number of organisations in order to offer Multi-Sport coaching sessions and Mentoring/Tutoring programmes to young/old people aged 7- Open age. We also help with employment opportunities, work experiences placements, apprenticeships and further education/accredited courses. We have a centre of excellence player development programme to play recreational or competitive sports and arrange trips/experiences for our members.

The Journey SO far

BYSA Started at Small Heath Park with only a few young people from the local area to get into sports. It grew over a period of a few years and thereafter the project expanded and moved to Small Heath Leisure Centre which has become the HUB of the BYSA project. Our time at the centre now means we have the space to move the young people in their own age groups ranging from age 7- open age with professional qualified coaches who are also DBS checked, and First Aid trained. We have the indoor sports hall and outdoor astro turf pitches every week on Saturday mornings from 10:30am to 12:30pm which has over 200 plus people attending every week.

Along side this we have started the girls project which has been a fantastic development and we have recruited female volunteers/qualified coaches who have taken control of the project and delivered sessions to suit the girls abilities and get them active and keen to get into sport and stay fit. The girls project have been on a number of trips, played tournaments and playing league football. The current age range for the girls project is age 7 – open age and is at Saltley Leisure Centre on Sunday mornings from 11:00am to 13:00pm.
The BYSA have also developed the centre of excellence player development programme which caters for players who would like to move up the ladder and play league football/tournaments in and around the country. We have additional sessions for these players so they can train and develop themselves with the FA qualified coaches and take part in the mentoring workshops and seminars to help with life skills/career advice and short accredited courses. They also train at Saltley Leisure Centre on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
We are currently in partnership with a number of football academies/ foundations and looking for that next big star, alongside this we have some BYSA players playing at academy level at Birmingham City FC, Aston Villa FC and more.
The BYSA mentoring programme which has been designed for its 12 – 18 year old members, which has helped develop their academic and career prospects.
BYSA is more than just sports, we also added an Educational Tutoring Programme which supports our students with English and maths, to develop further in their academic skills with our voluntary qualified tutors. Our network and partnerships that we have formed has given us the opportunity to help further in obtaining employment, apprenticeships, work experience placements and more.

Finally BYSA has now a facility and can call it a community hub in which school holiday programmes take place, coffee mornings, drop-in counselling sessions and much more for community usage. We wish to long term have a mini leisure centre and better facilities on site for all to use and benefit from.
