The Birmingham Youth Sports academy established in 2002 as a voluntary / charity organisation which provides sports and education to children aged 6-18. The academy on the 1st February 2013 celebrated their 10 years anniversary which was a big success and achievement in which our sponsor K Legal Solicitors hosted the event and gathered a number of professional sector people within the law field solicitors, barristers, doctors, judges, business men and many others.
The evening started at 6pm to 11pm starting with pre event drinks (refreshments), introductions, presentations, charity auctions, live entertainment, raffle ticket winners, 3 course meal supplied by MKB catering and drinks by AK Superstore. the charity items were famous football stars example Maradona, Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Messi, Ronaldo, Van Persie and also teams signed shirts. We also had 10 raffle items of some value which were donated by Latif’s Cash and Carry, Awan Marketing, Tesco’s, Asda, JD Sports, Haveli restaurant and Land Rover/Jaguar.
The sporting memorabilia was a success in which they achieved a great deal of money which was all proceeds to the charity and many thanks to the auction buyers example Mr Nazir Awan, Mr Majid Salim, Mr Zafar Rafiq, Mr Virdee, Mr Akeel Khan, Mr Zafar Ali, Ms Saleema Mamood, Mr Ajmal Mian, Mr BH Mohammed, Mr Balbir Singh and many others.
The event was enjoyed by all who attended and positive feedback was given as to the cause and the aim of the evening. As an academy we believe with the income of the charity dinner has sustained a good amount to continue the hard work that the academy staff has put in since 2002. The money raised will help towards a number of things example hire facilities, equipment, vocational/educational trips, tournament/league fees and FA Qualification courses for staff and members.
We hope to do a similar event on a yearly basis to gather individuals for a entertaining evening to socialize network, and raise funds. On a close note the chairman was very happy as to the turn out of the evening and the amount raised and thanks everyone who participated and made the event successful.
