Guidance council

Information Memorandum

ABOUT THE INITIATIVE

BYSA’S Guidance council initiative is an extension of the current committee structure in place to reconnect the running of the charity with the young people it supports.

The council consists of 7 young people that have all been part of the organisation, excelled and are a perfect representation of the young people that use the services of BYSA.

The council have been appointed to represent the young people at BYSA while also being a focal point for enquiries, ideas and concerns.

mission

The council have been bought together after the committee recognised the risk of a disconnect between those running the organisation and the young people benefitting from the services it provides.

The guidance council will negate the risk of any disconnect by providing the young people at BYSA, not only a voice but a chance to influence the future running of the charity. The purpose of the council is to empower young people in the community by giving them influence over the decisions that effect not only them but their peers too.

The sharing of responsibility has been carried out to give control over the young people’s future back to them.

vision

The long term goal of the council is to empower the youth through the council and support them to make a better future for themselves, on their own terms. In passing the responsibility on to those closest to the ground, we will ensure there is a more focused and informed decision making process.

Through this initiative we can create leaders for the future by not only equipping them with the skills to utilise when they’re older but with an opportunity to realise that position in their youth.

This initiative will revamp BYSA in to a charity for young people, run by young people.

OUTCOMES AND EXPECTATIONS

The council will have the power to request information on all aspects of activity including the results of actions performed.

Representation

All young people will be able to reach out to the council to express their ideas, wants/needs, concerns and any requirement for support.

The council will then collate this information and present this to the committee to action. They will also be able to action immediate concerns when they arise.

Implementation

The council will act upon information collated alongside the committee and further volunteers.

It will be their responsibility to ensure tasks are actioned and those responsible for results are held accountable for outcomes alongside their own tasks.

Consolidation

The council will bring together all aspects of the charity in to one central department to ensure the young people in the organisation flourish.

They will be involved in the day to day running of the organisation and be a powerful representation of those BYSA effects the most.
