Birmingham Youth Sports Academy took 45 young people and 8 adults to Manchester United FC for a day out on Saturday 7th August 2010 to see the following:
1. Pre season first team training
2. Nike tournament finalists under 15’s (Spain v Mexico)
3. Live performance from Ollie Murrs (X Factor)
4. Live freestyle performances
5. Optional Stadium Tour/Fair Ground and Mega Store
We left at 7:00am from Small Heath Leisure Centre and arrived at Manchester United FC at 9:00am.
We then got organised and went into the stadium to see the first team train, as the kids observed the level of training and hard work in the training they do and most of all seeing there role models in action.
Finishing with the first team at 11:30am, Ollie Murrs a former X Factor finalist preformed live his new album songs which finished at 12:30pm.
We then had lunch by then it was 1:00pm and the Nike tournament finalists came out and did a warm up and followed it with a game leaving the final score at 3-1 to Spain (Barcelona) followed by presentation Mexico runners up and Spain the winners.
At 2:15pm we had the opportunity to get autographs from Rio Ferdinand at pitch side.
At 3:00pm we then left the stadium and gave a choice to the kids of what were the available options including Stadium tour, Fairground and the MUFC Mega store all supervised by voluntary B.Y.S.A staff.
The kids were given a lunch box which was funded by our sponsor (K Legal Solicitors).
At 5:00pm we then gathered together and set off to Birmingham reaching home for 7:00pm.
Once again a successful trip and enjoyed by all covering football aspects such as watching there role models train, Nike finalist (under 15) playing at Old Trafford which is every kids dream, pictures and autographs of the role models and Ollie Murrs live performance singing. The total attendance on the day was approximately 10,000 people.
