BYSA 2017 Annual Dinner

Birmingham Youth Sports Academy celebrating its 15th Year in voluntary services to grassroots football at their Annual charity dinner event held this year at the Holiday Inn hotel (Birmingham Airport) on Friday 12th May 2017.

Once again the event was a sell out when it went on sale in January of this year and it attracted some attractive sponsors and new faces this year, the event had over 400 plus guests in attendance the BYSA had a action packed night of 3 course meal, after dinner speakers, entertainment, auction, raffle, awards and mainly celebrating their 15 years. The event had distinguished guests from all over the professional, public, business, media and voluntary sectors in attendance and some celebrities namely Jason Macateer, Steve Staunton, Gary Shaw, Mark Walters, Kash Gill, Kev Orkian, Zamaan Magician, Socharo dancers and the lovely Noreen Khan as the compere for the evening.

The evening was a huge success many people that attended were very impressed to see great work being done within the Birmingham area of Small Heath and surrounding areas as nothing is provided for the kids and the BYSA draws the line to help them through playing sports and educational classes and trips.

BYSA played a documentary video on the night which was to show the journey of 15 years and where it is today very emotional and powerful to watch to see the hard work put into this organisation by the volunteers that offer over 10 hours a week each to run the project, getting them playing competitive football, recreational football, educating them to classroom sittings and talks with top high class mentors that attend and show their support to the children in the community.

Over the past several years the BYSA has depended on its sponsors and donations and having these charity dinners this has made the project successful if it wasn’t for sponsors and the hard working volunteers we would have folded long time ago, now since 2002 going from strength to strength and every year the BYSA puts on a great show for its guests it now has so many followers on social media, word of mouth, people getting involved to support the BYSA for many years to come.

Main part of the event was the Auction for the charity to continue its hard work and keep pushing its volunteers to deliver their sessions for anyone and everyone no matter what age, size, race, ability they are. The thousands of pounds that were raised on the night all goes to the BYSA charity and for it to provide many core projects to the boys and girls of the community.

The BYSA Chairman’s award 2017 went to the Homeless Heroes project that deliver food and shelter for the homeless in the city centre feeding the poor, this orgainsation offers many days and hours of their voluntary service in providing such help and support for the community. Mr Majid Salim (BYSA chairman) and Mr Amer Awan (BYSA vice-chairman) attended the Homeless Heroes project along with other organisation in mind that do great work but after considering on its merits the Homeless Heroes came on top with Mr Javed Iqbal chairman of the Homeless heroes project claiming the award on the night and not knowing until his name was called out by the Host Noreen Khan. Last year the BYSA chairman’s award went to 2 individuals that have helped develop the BYSA to get it to were it id today namely Mr Balbir Singh and Mr Ranjit Lallie two very busy men that offer great support, time, help and mainly their advice over the years and we hope to work with sporting khalsa in the near future.

Finally from all of the volunteers at the BYSA and its members would like to thank all the guests that attended the evening new and old faces along with our ambassadors/celebrities but a big special thank you to our sponsors namely Big Johns, Aman Prestige, John Pye & sons, NA consulting, Riverdale insurance, Kingsland business recovery, Awan International and finally our long serving sponsor K Legal solicitors.
